"Diversity reigns on this six song EP. Within an overall palate of modern rock, Kirkland covers a lot of ground—there’s unusual instrumentation (including chimes and hummer dulcimer), aggressive riffing, acoustic intimacy, electronic sequencing, the whole deal. One of the defining characteristics of Here & Now is its unique rhythmic sensibility–Kirkland is able to take what would otherwise be a standard alternative-rock feel and tweak it to give it a character entirely its own.
